Job applications here are weird. This application I am working on wants a listing of my full-time education from age 11, including examinations and results and grades. Um, I went to Valley High School and graduated. Also I went to Indian Hills Junior High and graduated. Other than that, I can offer you nothing.
Plus, the application, a pdf, does not allow me to type into the file itself, so I have to print it and handwrite my answers, I guess? I am typing most of my answers and gluing them to the sheet. I think that will be nicer.
I also discovered last night that proofreading symbols here are different. Just one more challenge in the whole sordid business of finding a job.
Otherwise, things are ok. I have too much to do. But Dan made peanut butter cookies last night, and he keeps cooking dinner, so I will continue to eat.

ish
I had to tell someone.
Every September, the UK Marine Conservation Society does a beach cleanup. They (and their volunteers) count the pieces of garbage they collect on the beaches, and they do this on beaches around the country. They count pieces of trash by category, such as plastic bags, so they have a total number for each category.
Last year, they found more than 20,000 tampons and pads on beaches, after said items had been flushed down the toilet. 20,000!!!!!
And that category only made up 6 percent of the total trash found.
Let me know if you want ordering info for the mooncup or a washable pad maker.

peanut butter cookies
This is my last crunch week of the semester--well, of the school year, unless I end up having a crunch week for my dissertation. I hope I won't.
I am working on an essay and two analytical features, and at some point I need to put together a portfolio of my best work, along with a reflection of why I chose that work.
The end of the semester is strange. A lot of people are still around, though some have gone home and I may never see them again. We run into each other at the overheated journalism building while we are frantically working on assignments. Last night a French classmate had a party, but few people showed up because of assignments.
It is springtime here. The temperature is in the 70s (F) and half-naked people are sprawled all over the park. Some are kicking soccer balls around, and others are just standing in the path to add an extra challenge to my bike ride. I, on the other hand, am staying inside, trying to get my work done. It is moving along, but not there yet. I've been surprised to find that my procrastination habits from undergrad have shown up again. A few days ago, all I could think about was baking peanut butter cookies. I have the ingredients now, but haven't taken the time to bake them. Maybe later today.
My parents are coming to visit on Friday. I have planned nothing. But I think we will have a good time. Tentative plans include: bike ride to a local castle, picnic in the park, drink at the cool bar in Cardiff Bay where you can look out over the bay, and homemade pizza at our home the night they arrive. The following Wednesday we all go to London and Dan and I will have to work a little harder to get where we are going.
Since I am not graded on this post, I don't need a solid argument, intro or conclusion, so you're not getting those things. Hope you are well.
